Re: Mac Davis (78) passed away

As a non-Van Halen fan, the one truly searing solo that I recall is the one in Michael Jackson's "Beat It", which Eddie was apparently quite happy to re-create later for Weird Al Yankovic's parody- "Eat It!". I have never been a fan of the "who can play the fastest?" game, nor of its "How many notes...

Another one....Helen Reddy joined the Band of the Angels, too.

Re: Guitar solo at the end of TAMI finale

One thing you can see is that the trio of electric guitars onstage (and a bass) are NOT being played after the first minute or so, which does lead one to think that the sound is emanating from the bandstand. Looked fairly closely at the shots where the band is visible and I can't say for sure I actu...

Re: Hmmm...is it really an Ovation?

I had to chuckle over the angle of the nut. Getting that guitar properly intonated would be a challenge!

Nice catch!

Re: Best of Glen Campbell on YouTube

Interesting... At a couple of points he seemed to be indicating that the pace was slow. It was definitely a little more laid-back than the version he did in the South Dakota Symphony (PBS) special, which was a few years later on. But I was intrigued when he vocalised what I've heard so many times as...

Re: Country Boy Guitar by Rock 'n' Roll Relics

Was he maybe playing it (The Country Boy relic, that is)in the S Dakota Symphony special? This looks a little too dark, and somewhat cleaner than the relic, but it does seem to have the right hardware... Perhaps it is yet another "Strat"-like one.... https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=14&v=...

Re: Glen Campbell's Adamas II, Model 1685 12 String

I guess we'll need another image.. Off to look!! Y'know something? I am beginning to wonder if there are two Adamas in those pictures. One with checked binding and one with dark binding. The binding on the guitar with Autry doesn't quite square with the shot of Glen playing the inscribed Adamas, yet...

Glen and a Datsun 240Z(?)

Those sure like they were shot for print ads. Was Datsun a sponsor of the Goodtime Hour in 71-72? Near as I can tell, both cars are 71 or 72 models. Add in the golfers and the outfit Campbell's dressed in and you have definite lifestyle statement made here. Still, wonderful to see, as I lusted after...

Re: Glen Campbell's Adamas II, Model 1685 12 String

Hmm- looks like "Happiness"?

And perhaps my eyes are deceiving me, but I think I see the same scrawl in the image with Gene Autry. However, that's a pretty grainy photo, so no way to confirm it.

Makes me wonder who put it there, though.

Re: Ashley sings "Pancho and Lefty" and talks about her dad

The song suits her voice surprising well. One of her better efforts, IMHO.
