1969 Ovation Glen Campbell Artist Balladeer 1127/1627

G len’s second signature guitar was the 1127 (later, the 1627 w/pickup) Glen Campbell Artist Balladeer. Glen is seen here with one of the first ones Ovation produced, probably around 1969/70. Very few, would have had the 5-point bridge found on the first generation shiny bowls. 143156126,594,392,65...

Glen Campbell's Mosrite Ventures Double Neck Mark 1 6-12 String Pickup Placement

It is interesting to look at several of Glen's guitars to see how he re-positioned his pickups. It suggests, that Glen tinkered with the pickups to customize the sound he wanted. This picture shows a stock Mosrite Mark 1 Double Neck and Glen's. You can clearly see that Semie had shaped the base of t...

Re: H.C. “Texas Slim” Lasater: Glen Campbell's First Bandleader

M rs. Lasater, Slims wife, shared that Slim and the band played at the State Fair from 1948-1955. The following picture of the Rio Rhythm Riders was taken in 1951 for the New Mexico State Fair. This is probably a promotional picture that was used for the ’51 State Fair advertisements. Too bad this ...

Re: Glen Campbell on YouTube

Son! "yall can clap, we're through now" It is interesting to watch how artists end songs that, on the record, fade out. When I saw Neil Sedaka...he, at the end of Sweet 16, said, while still playing "I could never figure out an end to these records, so I just faded away"...then at the end of the res...

54ST ... Glen playing strats

""Glen playing Stratocaster guitars during the 60s and 70s"" Glen was playing Mosrites during the mid 60's, up until Ovation started making electric guitars for him. He certainly played electric Ovations religiously in the 70's. It would not surprise me to find him playing a Strat here and there dur...

Re: Glen's Guitars - Original Topic from 2011

The first Fender we see Glen with is the Tele, I think...but in the mid 60's he is seen with a strat. Forrest White tried to push Glen to Don Randall at Fender to let Glen be a Fender demonstrator...and Randall blew him off. That decision was probably hard to swallow beginning around 68/69 So Glen p...

Agoura Borealis Recording

Odd that they are selling it. Cal has gone to quite some trouble to promote it, as a producer, in the past year. https://www.facebook.com/agouraborealis/ But I see that the website that he devoted to its' promotion is now just a contact #. I always thought the studio was in the house... The 3-car ga...
