H.C. “Texas Slim” Lasater: Glen Campbell's First Bandleader

Texas Slim at his home in La Ventana, NM logo.jpg I n 1952, Glen Campbell loaded up and moved to Lindrith, NM to live with the Boytt and Lola Hardy family. They had heard Glen play and thought he could pick up some work as a guitar player around where they lived. I n Glen's autobiography, he shared...

Re: The Glen Campbell Legacy - A Musical Tribute to the Rhinestone Cowboy (Ryman Auditorium)

Uhmm...a banjo and something other than an Ovation head stock.
Theatrical experience?
Yes, it does sound interesting. "Led by the best and brightest of Nashville talent, this two-night musical tribute delivers a fresh perspective on theatre and music"

The "fresh perspective" worries me a little.

Re: The Glen Sound

Bob Interesting that you would say " Glen always had an issue with too much Bass... I think it always bothered him all of the way to the end. " I was able to see 3 of the goodbye tour concerts and at each one, Glen would start out frustrated about the bass and then get to a point where he was totall...

Sadly, they missed it...by a mile.
Copying roots, is not the same as having created them.

Re: Ovation 1627

Well...you are not going to want to see this.... 303320-356000 = 1985 Which kind of confirms my guess. Maybe you are a time jumper and in 78 you morphed into 85???? Totally cannot explain it, but does it matter? I was never clear on why Ovation moved the FET knob to begin with. Welcome to the forums...

Re: Ovation 1627

Hey Colmac! Welcome to the Glen Campbell Forums!!! Let me try to answer your concerns. The 1627 is the Glen Campbell signature guitar. Your model guitar was introduced as the Glen Campbell Artist Balladeer. The two models were the 1127 (acoustic only) and the 1627 (acoustic/Electric). Generally, it ...

Re: Glen Campbell's Mosrite D100 Californian

This is a great shot of Glen and his Californian while in the Columbia Records studio with James Burton and the Wrecking Crew on September 15, 1967 in Los Angeles, California. It appears that Glen is playing through a mid 60's blackface Fender Super Reverb amp.
