Re: Glen Campbell and Jimmy Webb

I guess it shows these guys are VERSE-atile. I can't imagine Glen would change a whole verse without reference to Jimmy, so they must have talked about it and asked him to modify it for Glen to record. I have noticed though that Glen sometimes sings different lyrics to some some songs. Here is an ex...

Re: Glen Campbell and Jimmy Webb

Dee, I have the score for the song Galveston in a Jimmy Webb song book I got last year. The words are exactly as Glen sings the song and its written as "before I watch your sea birds flying". I think it is just a case of not wanting to repeat the see -sea words in the same sentence. Singin...

Re: Gals on Guitars

Thatv was great Dee, I am sure that was the song he sang last night on the BBC4 programme Kings of Country. Glen appeared on there also singing Phoenix. They used the clip from his show on the BBC from 1972 I believe it was. The clip is on Youtube (He's wearing a red jump suit, sitting on the steps)...

Re: When was GC's Wembley Concert?

It was interesting that the show at Wembley "The Silk Cut Country Music Festival" which was broadcast as a series called "Sing Country" Glen was given a full programme episode special and a couple of weeks later because of so many requests, the BBC showed an additional clip of Gl...

Re: Real Or Fake? Rock And Roll Memorabilia Investigation

It's such a shame that people get conned like this. When people buy these things they usually have a great fondness for the artist concerned and someone is basically betraying that trust. I noticed the phrase Country legends in the article and it reminded me that I had been to the tour at the NEC in...

Re: Gals on Guitars

Get that guitar Dee. If you have a good ear for music you will soon be strumming or picking those favourite songs. Like you Dee, I have played for a number of years with my guitar as opposed to your piano, but last year I decided to start practising the piano I have in the front room, which my daugh...

Re: Sing! Your Covers of Glen Campbell Songs

Hi Cowpoke, Thanks for sorting that out. I will try to get it right for next time. Cowpoke, I get my pictures by googling a phrase like "Cannons splashing" click google images and use what I consider to be the best for the lyrics. When Jimmy wrote Galveston, he was inspired to do so when h...

Re: Glen Campbell and The Beach Boys

Cowpoke, You raise a good point there. Everytime Glen has talked about being with the B/boys he always says "I played bass and sang Brian's part, It raised my voice a tone and a half" He also stated that the bass strings are tuned like the four top strings of the guitar so it wasn't a big ...

Re: I'll Be Me: the movie

In the Glen biofilm from last year they touched on this point. But they were referring to the seventies not the sixties. So I am not sure what RockynRudy is actually thinking of here. But with regards to the Seventies it was the time that bands became more casual looking and grew their hair long. I....
