Re: Glen Campbell's Ovation 1624 (Proto X014)

Hi, Jeremy. No, the guitar in that pic is not X014. As you pointed out, it does not have the curved bridge that is a distinguishing characteristic of X014. The one pictured is a very similar instrument, being a 1624 with Baldwin Prismatone pickup and Glen's initials at the 12th fret. It probably eve...

Re: Glen Campbell's Ovation Bluebird 6 String Guitar

BB6.jpg BB6case.jpg Here are a couple of bad but fairly recent pics of mine. I believe the Bluebird 6-string that Glen is playing in the video with Captain and Tennille is the one that I currently own. It has the smaller, Viper sized pickguard and UKII type humbucker pickups with a coil-tap switch ...

Re: Glen Campbell's Ovation 1624 (Proto X014)

I thought I had posted this already but here is a nice picture of Glen at the White House on May 7, 1971, with musicians Bob Felts, Bill Graham and Dennis McCarthy.

The X014 guitar is on the stand to Glen's left.

Re: 12 string electric

Hi Jim;

Glen seemed to like the Fender Twin Reverb a lot in those days, for his electrics and his Prismatone equipped Ovation nylon string guitars as well.

Re: Glen Campbell's Epiphone Zephyr Deluxe Regent

8:21 pm?

Now, that is some detail there! You have done an awesome job with this guitar info section, Jay. Many thanks to you for your work and research.

This is undoubtedly the guitar Glen has owned the longest, at least 62 years which is pretty amazing when you think of it.

Re: Ovation Bluebird 12 String

Dee;

Also, the Bluebird at the HOF (same one that is in the 'staircase' pic) has the deluxe diamond inlay pattern on the fingerboard whereas the one that came into the factory has the plainer 'dot' pattern.

Mike;

Yes, Glen played the six string Bluebird on McArthur Park on the RFH video.

Here is one more of X014 which I believe, was taken on the same night as the previous photo. The sheet music for Manhatten Kansas. This photo also appeeared on the back of the Guitar Instruction book from 1971.

Re: Glen Campbell's Ovation 1624 (Proto X014)

Here is the one album cover I know of featuring the GC X014 guitar. This album was released in 1972.
