Hi JoeSanchez, welcome to the Glen Campbell Forums. Nice to see you posting. I am very excited about this performance as well. Does the song have a chance to win you think?

BTW, here's a recent video of Julian Raymond, talking about the documentary, the song and Glen.

New online articles debating who should win the Oscar for Best Original Song are listed below. If you find new articles (which are pouring in now that we are in pre-Academy Awards week and are difficult for just a few people to keep up with and share on the forums, please post them here. Thanks!)

Should Performers Take Home the Oscar for Best Original Song?
by Beth Kellmurray February 17, 2015 11:34 AM
Of those nominees (the five nominated songs), only one is both the writer and performer behind the song, and that’s Glen Campbell. “I’m Not Gonna Miss You” – which appeared in a documentary about the iconic country singer-songwriter – was co-written by Campbell and Julian Raymond, and as such, both will be up for the award on Sunday night.
Great point about what distinguishes Glen's song (co-written with Julian Raymond) from all of the other nominees -- and hopefully this distinction will give him the Oscar.--Dee

Oscars 2015: Why 'Selma's' Best Hope Is "Glory"
"The blissfully irritating hooks of the Lego anthem may have a hard time going up against socially conscious songs that are being made to represent not just for their respective movies but also for Alzheimer’s awareness and racial reckoning. Raymond naturally hoped that the Glen Campbell film would be recognized as a documentary, but “that category is insane,” he says. So, in some ways, has been the spotty, city-by-city rollout for I’ll Be Me, so the filmmakers are counting on Tim McGraw’s Oscar-night performance of its song — and whatever visual accompaniment is screened — to draw attention to both an impending home-video release and the ravaging disease itself."

Yes, Elusive Butterfly, I agree. They just HAVE to win the Oscar. Here's a nice article with a picture of Glen and Kim Campbell with Tim McGraw and his wife Faith Hill.

Cowpoke wrote:Man I so hope that the song will win an Oscar. That would mean that Glen even has an Academy Award credited to him. But, perhaps even more importantly, it will shine the limelight on Julian Raymond too, who probably wrote the majority of the music and lyrics. That would be a well deserved tribute to the man who brought Glen back into the limelight himself. By making two wonderful latter day albums with Glen (Meet Glen Campbell and Ghost on the Canvas) and by being instrumental in getting James Keach and Trevor Albert to make I'll Be Me. If Julian gets the Oscar for best song, I will take a deep bow for him, in front of my television!
I do agree with you Cowpoke, on all this you write. Let's all take a bow, in front of our television, when (because it MUST win), when the Oscar goes to.......Glen and Julian. No one else, deserve this as much as they do. And you're so right. It will keep the light shining on our Glen for the decades to come. Elusive Butterfly.

Oscar Winner Predictions 2015: Original Song
Slantmagazine.com By Eric Henderson on February 11, 2015

"I'm Not Gonna Miss You" could win, writes Eric Henderson. But he believes "Glory" will win.
While we could expound for thousands of words upon the gruesome irony of Oscar capitalizing on John Legend and Common's Ferguson-checking protest anthem as the head-patting solution to the industry's ongoing problems with proper representation, but instead we'll just light a candle in honor of Glen Campbell, whose simple but gutsy tone poem has in its spare three minutes as much to say about the tragedy of Alzheimer's disease as the entirety of Still Alice.
