Thank you, Randy.
I am sorry you couldn't make the Hot Springs event.
Do you have the album (CD), "Billstown"?
Steve Campbell performs the lead vocals on "Wichita Lineman".
Not the same as the partial live version in this video though.... (:
All the Campbells are so blessed with talent.

From a reviewer in Chicago:

Reel Advice: Bodily Harm
by Gregg Shapiro

A positive review most notable, I think, because this reviewer sees "I'll Be Me" as
"The closest we've come to a music doc at the same level as Martin Scorcese's The Last Waltz...."
and for his frank statement quoted below -- as well as the COLOR close-up photo of Glen recording his last song in a studio as seen in "I'll Be Me".
..."it's when Campbell himself does the singing that you realize the value of the legacy he has created and what a loss it is for everyone that his voice has been silenced too soon." -- Gregg Shapiro

This review / article / interview about I'll Be Me has not been posted yet I believe.

The article in CMA's magazine starts like this:

"As both a studio musician and recording artist, Glen Travis Campbell had no peers. He could do things on the guitar that few could before or since. Vocally, songs like “By The Time I Get To Phoenix” and “Galveston” stood apart on the radio from anything else on the charts."

Re: Glen's Movie "I'll Be Me"

Post by Dee »

Welcome to the Glen Campbell Forums, laura4537!

Great question!

According to James Keach and Trevor Albert, the film makers and two of its producers, "I'll Be Me" will be released on DVD in early 2015.
There is also some buzz in the press that there might be a television (cable?) release as well, but this information is not yet confirmed by the I'll Be Me production team. As soon as we learn the details of I'll Be Me's release, we will post this info here.

Also, more good news, there is buzz about a second DVD that will be a concert performance, one of Glen's from the Goodbye Tour. We are reading that this performance will be one that took place in Nashville at the Ryman Auditorium!

Please keep checking back as we learn and post details. You'll find this information in the "All Things Glen" forum under the topic "I'll Be Me" or we might create a separate topic dedicated to announcing these releases. (Here is the direct link to this topic here on the forums: http://www.glencampbellforums.com/viewt ... ?f=10&t=25" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;)

We really hope that you and all of our other fellow fans get to see Glen Campbell's documentary sometime in the months ahead.

Kind Regards,
Dee

Glen's Movie "I'll Be Me"

Post by laura4537 »

It breaks my heart that I won't ever get to see Glen's movie of his life. The closest it will be playing to me will be about a 3 hour drive. Will you release it on a cd?

Workshop designed to help families coping with dementia

http://www.kentucky.com/2014/11/19/3548 ... .html?rh=1" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

--siblis had posted this link under this topic last week. After a quick skim, too quick, I missed the reference to Glen Campbell and moved this article to the Hitching Post for general discussion.
After I read it again, I realized that not only does it have a reference to GC and his doc, but it represents one of the first examples that I have seen where the purpose and impact of Glen's new documentary are exemplified.

In this article, Marie Smart, a social worker at the Sanders-Brown Center on Aging at the University of Kentucky, provides background to a new workshop that will be held in December to help people better understand dementia. She says that there is (now) a much broader awareness of Alzheimer's and other forms of dementia than when she began her career in the early 1980s. Furthermore, "...(a)ccurate representations are even slipping into popular culture, she said, citing the recently released documentary on the last tour of country singer Glen Campbell, who has Alzheimer's disease, called I'll Be Me. The tagline for the movie is: His music is legendary. His story is human."

"'A group is working to bring the film to Lexington for a showing,' Smart said."

According to interview and article links that have been posted here under this topic, this type of open conversation is exactly what the Campbells, James Keach, Trevor Albert, and others associated with I'll Be Me had hoped for by making this film.

Thanks, siblis!

Dee
