Glen Campbell movie opens dialogue
"Mississippi Methodist Senior Services hosted two screenings of the documentary 'Glen Campbell: I'll Be Me' and a panel discussion including Campbell's wife Kim and local Alzheimer's advocates at the Malco Theater in Tupelo. Both screenings filled the 300-seat auditorium.
The documentary follows the country music legend, his family, band and friends during his Good Bye tour in 2011 and 2012. The singer now lives in a memory care center near his family in Nashville.
Originally slated for five weeks, the tour continued for 151 concerts across the country. There's laughter, along with tears, as the Campbells make music and wrestle with memory loss.
Before the panel discussion Tuesday, Kim Campbell said she hopes people see what a person with Alzheimer's can do with a wide circle of support. 'Just because you get a diagnosis of Alzheimer's, you don't have to quit doing what you love,' she said.

Thanks for the correction, Cowpoke.
Tim McGraw performed "I'm Not Gonna Miss You" at the Oscars.

Re: I'll Be Me - The Documentary
Of course, Tim McGraw didn't perform at the Grammys, but other than that, interesting article!

Kim Campbell to share Alzheimer’s documentary
The Lee County Courier
By Jim Clark, March 18, 2015
This article starts out with beautiful praise for Kim Campbell's acceptance speech and Tim McGraw's performance of "I'm Not Gonna Miss You" at the 2015 Grammy Awards.
It ends with very sad news about Glen Campbell's current health condition. Please keep Glen and his family in your thoughts / prayers.

Re: I'll Be Me - The Documentary
This is a different review / perspective from what we have been reading about the I'll Be Me documentary:
Caregivers are dementia’s silent victims
The Davis Enterprise
March 18, 2015
BEFORE YOU READ THIS REVIEW, please note that the writer errs about the doc being available online at http://www.glencampbellmovie.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;. I looked high and low on this site and did not see a link to the documentary. The writer may have confused the site's trailer with the film.
I'll Be Me will be released on CNN in June and again in November.

Re: I'll Be Me - The Documentary
Yes Randy I too thought that review was very well written. One a side note, on movie review site Rottentomatoes.com I'll Be Me still has a 100% fresh rating, meaning that the movie has not received any negative reviews.
http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/glen_ca ... ill_be_me/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
In order for the movie to become part of rottentomatoes.com's best of the year list, they require the movie to have 40 reviews. I believe currently the movie has received 26 reviews. So we have to hope for another 14 more!

Re: I'll Be Me - The Documentary
Cowpoke, Thx, two outstanding links.
The first link you put up there with that very last paragraph just floored me.
"Alzheimer's disease has just recently been brought to the front of America's consciousness. It's a disease that affects millions of people, the 6th leading cause of death. Films like this and Still Alice which was also released this year serve to educate and inform the general audience. But Glen Campbell: I'll Be Me also serves to inspire. It's about the work he's put into his musical career. It's about the music he has given the world. The disease is just getting in his way. It takes his words but can't take his personality. It can't reduce him to nothing. He is and will remain to be, Glen Campbell."
Wow, so very true
And the second link
"Kretzinger said he was so inspired by a screening of the award-winning film in October 2014 at the LeadingAge national conference in Nashville that he wanted to bring it to Iowa, the state with the third highest incidence of Alzheimer’s disease in the country"
There's that word "inspired" again.
I know I am!!!
