David Nail on the Glen Campbell Song That Shaped His Sound
“Country Boy (You Got Your Feet In LA) was a song that I heard at the perfect time,” Nail says. “It was absolute every emotion I was feeling at the time. I had already fell in love with Glen Campbell, and this was a result of completely immersing myself in his music.”

Big turn out for launch of Marty Whelan’s memoir
The Irish Times

New book, That's Life, could be a good read:
In the memoir, Whelan said he took inspiration from songs “that have had meaning” for him as he explores the themes of his life through Bruce Springsteen, David Bowie, Glen Campbell, Paul McCartney, the Three Degrees, Frank Sinatra and Madama Butterfly.

Thank you for sharing those video links, Randy.
It's touching and beautiful to watch the video of Gary performing in the hospital for a fan who passed away two days later. Shows a lot about Gary's character and spirituality as a person.
Jim and Gary sound good together.
I hadn't watched those Ralph Emery shows previously and these programs were a treat to listen to.
Wish I could turn the clock back to 20 or 25 years ago; there were so many artists that I overlooked or just took for granted!
For example, I only recently discovered The Carter Family, can you believe that?

Elusive Butterfly, thanks so much for your interesting posts. I really enjoyed reading your write-up about country music, American and Danish, and also Glen's philosophy for a good song.
Who are some of the popular Danish country artists now?
I wonder why Danish artists haven't been recognized in the U.S. (not that I know of, maybe some are known here?) in comparison to the popularity of British music with Americans?

You bet I enjoyed every minute of it, Randy. Thanks a million for sending me that link. You know, I live in Denmark. And we've not so familiar with the "real" country music, until in the recent years. Now it's grown to be very popular. I can say the same for myself. When I joined my "first" Glen Campbell groups on Facebook, a couple of years ago, a whole new world opened itself to me. And country was a huge part of that. So I went on youtube to listen to all the brilliant country music there is to explore. Naturally we've had Willie Nelson, Johnny Cash, Merle Haggard, Roger Miller, Buck Owens and so many more, on our national radio, during the past 40 decades. Still, I had a lot to learn about it. Today I'm totally into American country music, as well as many of our Danish artists have tried to make it with the country sound and with a great deal of success. It seems to me, that Country music has been "sleeping" for a great number of years. But it has come alive again, much to my pleasure. Country songs in the 50's and 60's seemed to have so much more to tell. As Glen Campbell always said "It has to tell a story". Same thing with the country genre. The songs need to take you "somewhere". Let you into a true story about something important to us all. I truly enjoyed the whole video , Randy. Thanks again. Elusive Butterfly.

Elusive Butterfly, you are most welcome. I agree, it does speak volumes of his character to sing for that man in the hospital. The other link is the part of the Ralph Emery show (Nashville Now) where Gary Puckett and Jim Glaser both sing together on Woman Woman.... If you watch the whole clip , yes Gary Puckett does sing snippets of Young Girl, Lady Willpower, and Over You also. I'm a fan of Gary Puckett also, but I also like Jim Glaser very well too. The muppet you are referring to , I think is Shotgun Red a prop Ralph used on his show.

Here's a clip I love that Glen did as a salute to Ralph Emery...Hope u enjoy :D

Thank you so much Randy, for posting the links, to the YT-clip where Gary Puckett sings Woman Woman, for the sick man in the hospital. Says a great deal about his noble charater. And then the other link with him singing "Young Girl" on this......show? Was it some kind of Muppet Show? Anyway. Young Girl was the first song I ever heard Gary Puckett sing, back in the late 60's/early 70's, when I was 14 years old. I couldn't get enough of that song and his tremendous voice. Thanks again. Loved it. Elusive Butterfly
