"When Glen Campbell says, he remembers Hank Williams, he is saying he remembers those rough early days when life and hope came tough, and Hank's songs comforted him...he remembers those first tough days when he was trying to make it in show business, and Hank's songs showed him how far he could go...and he remembers Hank himself, and wants to tell him, thanks, I still care."

-Glen's Uncle Boo (William E. " Boo" Campbell), a very gifted guitar player, had played with Hank Williams in Arkansas. Hank was impressed with "Boo's" guitar playing and asked him to join his touring band. Glen's uncle declined Hank's offer.

John B. Goodman, chairman of The Goodman Group, and a gifted author and speaker passed away suddenly last week.
You may recognize Mr. Goodman from interviews that he and Kim Campbell gave together regarding care for Alzheimer's patients as well as caregivers.
Earlier this month, they had both participated in a forum that followed an "I'll Be Me" film screening in Tampa, Florida, and Kim had also toured one of Mr. Goodman's assisted living centers at that time.

The Examiner looked at songs that reached the Billboard Magazine's Hot 100 pop music charts in two or more years. The third article in their series looked at songs that peaked between No. 30 and No. 62 in one or both of the years. "Gentle On My Mind" by Glen Campbell ranked #39 in 1968 and #62 in 1967.

Would our discographers on the board here agree with the accuracy of these rankings?

Isn't it surprising that "Gentle" did not chart higher in 1967/1968? Did the album chart higher?

Nice kudos for GC, and the author also dedicates his post to him (despite posting also about Kenny Rogers and including both a photo and video of Rogers).
Also note this un-sourced quote that may or may not be Glen's: "People who are advocating burning draft cards should be hung." (It does ring a bell, what do you think, Cowpoke?)

Dee, Great link, Jeff is just a super nice guy, and great entertainer in his own right. Love what he's doing. Also, since I don't do twitter, (I see he has a twitter account) maybe you or Cowpoke could contact him and say hi from us and ask him about what was written on his guitar in New York. No big deal of course, just a curiosity thing.
