Yes but the musician who is putting together this multimedia tribute is called Glenn, with 2 n's, hence his username gtrglenn! :)

Glen's name is spelled with one N, not two...

Hey gtrglenn this is really interesting. Thans for keeping up to date about your tribute concert. The setlist sounds great to me. I am also very curious about the video material you are using for this show! If there is anything we/I can do to help, please let us know. Good luck with all the preparations and please keep us informed.

Glenn Sings Glen tribute show

Post by gtrglenn »

I am in the process of assembling a multimedia tribute concert about GC for band SQUEAKY CLEAN (http://squeakycleanband.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;).

Our first performance is on May 24, so I'm pushing to get all the songs learned and all the videos compiled.

I thought some of you would be interesting in following the progress of the presentation and the choices I made in trying to compress Glen's career and 12 of his songs in a 50 - 60 minute presentation. There were many hard choices to make.

You will be glad to know that I am concentrating on Glen's early years and his time at the top of the music business, rather than his tabloid years, substance abuse and other tawdry subjects. I want to connect the audience with the man they know and love.

I am opening with "Try A Little Kindness," which began many of Glen's shows. After that, I am staying pretty chronological. A Dick Bills rockabilly number, Turn Around Look at Me and then a few tunes from the Wrecking Crew years: Help Me Rhonda (there are great stories about his time as a Beach Boy) and Something Stupid (Glen tells the story of Sinatra's discomfort with him during the recording of "Strangers In The Night.")

Then the hits: Gentle On My Mind, Phoenx, Less of Me with Bobbie Gentry), Wichita Lineman and Galveston.

I plan to put Southern Nights next and then have a brief segment about Glen's final tour and his struggle with Alzheimer's. I think that Rhinestone Cowboy would be a great closer.

We have a concert performance of the show booked for White Plains, NY on July 21. We had hoped that other Parks and Rec departments, who book many tribute bands, would follow suit, but perhaps it will take another year to get the word out. We also plan to do a benefit for the Long Island Alzheimer's Association (my wife and I perform for them regularly), but nothing definite on this yet.

Well. I'm seeing double from all the computer work I did on the show today, so I will sign off for now.

Re: GC on YouTube

Hi gtrglenn,
great idea! There is another biography that we recently posted on our youtube channel:

It's called Still on the Line (2001):

Then there is the one of the best interviews with Glen ever posted (with Bob Costas) by Diamond Tim Pleshaw on youtube (thanks Tim!):

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dz-xfURbzoI" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; part 1
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0FFY3lwO7cY" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; part 2
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vzB1fD2HIbU" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; part 3
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X6OJOJYxq84" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; part 4

Hope that helps!

GC on YouTube

Post by gtrglenn »

I am compiling a video bio of GC and would like to use his voice and image as much as possible. There are so many GC videos available....can someone steer me toward some that have him discussing various career milestones (the 1996 "Life and Times of Glen Campbell" video from TNN is a good example of what I'm after).

Thanks...this will complement our "Glenn Sings Glen" tribute presentation we're doing in the NYC area.
