Just looking over my big Jimmy Webb music files today, and found my super rare acetate of "Where´s the playground Susie?", sung by Glen.

Can see this acetate I have is a Capitol mono made with Project #no. 70489, and can also read this was made 2th April 1969. Running time 2:59.

As you can read down here (post 22th February MOD), this was that song I ask J.W.s lovely wife Laura, to ask Jimmy to sing for me up at world famous artmuseum Louisiana, Denmark, 18th February 2011.
"Playground Susie" was in a medley this evening where J.W. also include "MacArthur Park".
This TWO songs is very PERSONAL for me.

Thanks for remember dear JIMMY LAYNE WEBB!

Have just send a private e-mail to Laura & Jimmy and wish them both a great day.

For me was, is 2011 a great year, when I think back to February 18th and my concert with Jimmy Webb here in Denmark.

And that Jane and I was taking care of Jimmy Webb´s wife Laura, the day after my concert, because J.W. was on this way back to UK to some extra concerts.

Wow, Tim! What a cool opportunity you had there! It would be an honor to meet Jimmy Webb. In addition to their cosmic musical connection, I think it can be fairly stated that both Glen and Jimmy are down-to-earth guys, which is every bit as rare and wonderful as the music they've made through the years. Glad you had a chance to see both GREATS within a few days!

I meant to post this a few weeks ago...I saw Jimmy Webb in concert here in St. Louis on March 19th. It was exactly 6 days after seeing Glen in Horton, Kansas. What a treat to see those guys back to back like that. I sat in the front row and afterwords got to meet Jimmy to chat a bit and take some pics. We talked about Glen and also Frank Sinatra and his relationship with him. As all of us Glen fans can say...Jimmy is simply the best songwriter out there and a really great guy too!

Of the 7 or 8 copies of the new duets JW album there is only one left at my local HMV store.

Seems that sales for this album have done fairly well.

Wish there was a place to check out album sales.

This is from TIM "private" to me - some days ago!

Hi Erik,

Just had another thought!
- Do you remember Linda Ronstadt's interview about The Moon's a Harsh Mistress when she was talking about Jimmy breaking down in the middle of a live broadcast and he couldn't go singing the song.
She said then that the moon is a 'mother' figure and it may have had something to do with Jimmy's mother dying when he was young (Erik ad - around 18).

Well maybe the moon on Friday was a symbol of your mother looking over you and your friends.
I shall certainly never forget the experience!

------------

Erik AD: My dear mother left me, she was 85 when I was with my other music family The NEWBURY`s.
Mickey Newbury, American music legend (1940-2002).

I was at The Mickey Newbury Gathering in Austin, Texas, June 2008.
And my mother died, when I was over there with family of M.N., know most af Mickey`s family and friends.
I hurried home, but to late.
At a birthday party there in Austin 2008, we held before the Gathering and my mother was dead, was there a lady, who escort "dear old" friend of mine Mister Paul Colby, who maybe still owns The Bitter End nightclub in NYC.
I say hello to Colby and mention Jimmy Webb, and suddenly the lady says, what she know Laura Webb, and she wanted to let Laura know, that I was around.
When I leave home, I didn`t MENTION anything to the J.W. Forum, that my mother was dead.
BUT two days before funeral service, a flower lady was around with a big flower centrepiece from Jimmy Webb.
World can be small.
Can ad, that I last year was outside Houston, Texas, to say privat hello to Mickey lovely mother Miss Mamie, who last December reach 90.

Have been with the NEWBURY`s the last 7 years.
BUT J.W.s NUMBER ONE FAN!

sincerely

FROM THE JIMMY WEBB MESSAGE BOARD, thought you'd all enjoy reading about Erik the Dane's special night as JW gave his first concert ever in Denmark.

Erik's Night

(posted by Tim Light on February 20, 2011 at 06:05:31)

Message:

I think it may be a little while before Erik can compose himself and post here again as he’s probably still pinching himself to see if it wasn’t all a dream.

Anyway, in Louisiana, or for those with a little geographic knowledge – ‘Just Across the Øresund’, it was a cold night. But even if the sea was frozen outside the windows, there was very warm anticipation inside. Erik sat in the front row between his girlfriend Jane and Jimmy’s wife Laura, and I sat behind Laura with Sven and Totti. This felt a little strange at times because every time Jimmy looked at Laura (which he did a lot) I thought he was smiling at me!

Playing in Denmark for the first time was a step into the unknown for Jimmy and I thought he was a little nervous to start with because of this, but he needn’t have worried. There are obviously a number of frustrated Danish Webb fans who have been unable to see him perform live before, and the screams of a couple when they heard him begin to sing ‘What does a Woman see in a Man’ surprised him so much he had to stop (in a nice way).

The whole evening was special but a couple of extra highlights –

The date of the concert coincided with a full moon, and I suppose because of the cold and the air being so clear, it was the brightest full moon you are ever likely to see. One wall of the concert hall was glass and this just happened to be the side on which the moon was rising. So it was a wonderful and unique moment when Jimmy sang ‘The Moon’s a Harsh Mistress’ with both him and us bathed in this strong moonlight.

Jimmy also spent some time speaking about Erik, about how this concert was his, and how he came to ‘love Erik as a brother’ before singing ‘Where’s the Playground Susie’ for him. Another magical moment.
