Glen Campbell Ovation Guitar
Re: Glen Campbell Ovation Guitar
Thanks for posting this G-Man. Very interesting to see how you cleaned and fixed this guitar. You did a great job.
I'm a carefree, range ridin', driftin' cowpoke...

WOW!!! Very nice!
That is a pre-Kbar ... I prefer those.
Man, that fretboard was filthy! You did an excellent job cleaning it up....did you oil it...if so what did you use?
Great guitar...nice work on the cracks...they really add character and there is no doubt that baby is a cannon acoustically.
Congrats! Great find and very nice job on the restoration.

Glen Campbell Ovation Guitar
I rescued this 1976 Glen Campbell Ovation 1617-4 a few months ago. It was in pretty bad shape. Even though, being a big GC fan, I had to have it.
I finally finished the restoration work this weekend. My goal was to make it playable, but not try and hide all the MoJo. There was one big crack in the top, that needed to be attended to. I hydrated the guitar for about 2 months, and the crack went back together. I cleated the underside, and it will not spread any further.
The fingerboard was the nastiest I have ever seen. Cleaned that up, polished all the frets, disassembled the tuners and cleaned and lubed them.
I'm really happy the way it came out, and it sounds amazing!
