Jimmy Webb is hot on the trail making appearances to talk about his new memoir, The Cake and The Rain.
(You can read the first tantalizing chapter on Google Books as well as Amazon ["peek inside"]).
I can't keep up with the reviews, interviews (audio and video), and articles that are pouring in.
But I will try!
Fans, please join this topic -- post articles you are coming across as well as your personal reviews of the memoir after you read it.
We would love to read your thoughts about it!

In Jimmy Webb’s new memoir, The Cake and The Rain, nearly a dozen pages in the back contain a partial list of all the artists who have ever recorded one of his songs. Of the hundreds of covers that have come down the pike, these are the Long Island resident’s favorites.

Hi, Mike,

In reply to your post below about the length of Jimmy Webb's new memoir, I read that it covers only about the first 5 years of his career with fast, unfolding, "somewhat surreal" events, interwoven with stories about his father, grandfather and other influential Webb relations.

This is an article in which Jimmy addresses the editing process as recommended by his editor:

JIMMY WEBB: “I wanted the book to capture this somewhat surreal sequence of events, which I thought moving between the past and present would achieve,” Webb said. “Originally, it was a much longer book, about 300,000 words, but my editor wanted it down to 120,000. That was hard to do because so many little episodes and events had to be dropped. But I’m pleased with the book. The tempo of it, that acceleration, is more in tune with the way the actual events unfolded. It was all such a blur to me as a young person.”

This is going to be a good read for the fans. But it will only be up to the early seventies as I understand it, so I hope there will be a second edition follow up,otherwise it will be a half baked cake in the rain.

For fans who may have always wondered about the meaning of "MacArthur Park", as does the writer of a column published today, have hope!

The article is a mixed bag, but the first comment to it is most interesting! Laura Savini, wife of Jimmy Webb, commented with an intriguing reveal about Jimmy's new book:

Jimmy Webb's new book is available for pre-order "everywhere" now! The publication date is still April 18th!

To enter to win a giveaway for a copy of the book, go to "goodreads" site at: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/314 ... d-the-rain" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Offer ends tomorrow, March 24th!

A couple of early reviews (non-professional) are posted on goodreads, too.
The Cake and The Rain is a surprising and unusual book: Webb’s talent as a writer and storyteller is here on every page. His book is rich with a sense of time and place, and with the voices of characters, vanished and living, famous and not, but all intimately involved with him in his youth, when life seemed nothing more than a party and Webb the eternal guest of honor.
