Sublime, Rob!
Thank you for sharing with us! Your son did Glen's peer, Micky Dolenz, proud as well as your family and friends with his remarkable performance!

Hey robduloc, great performance by your son. You must be very proud. I think it is very hard to sing with just a piano backing, as you need to be sure of when to come in at the right point. He seemed very confident. Tell him well done from me.

It is such an honor to have such a wonderful place to visit and post, The Glen Campbell Forums help to keep Thanksgiving in my heart all year around.

Porpoise Song was commissioned for Carole King to write for the movie "Head". The line in the song about a giraffe has to do with Mickey as a child when he had his own show, "Circus Boy".

The Monkees Stage Manager was standing at the souvenir booth watching and taking everything in, a very beautiful man with long hair and a beard and jeans tucked into his soft leather boots.

He was looking after a VIP, we all started talking, my son and I gave the guest our e-mail address, the Stage Manager said that he doesn't do Facebook.

I told him, that I had a discography on the Glen Campbell Forum that took over 9 months to compile, do you know what he said... "I'll definitely have to look into that"!

And so, yeah, it really was a big moment for me, instead of stars, all I could see were guitars!

smile~

Thank you again, for your love and care and devotion to attention.

Rob

The Monkees have announced this year will be their last tour, finishing up dates in Australia, Dolenz has announced that he will be performing a series of solo shows at casinos next year,
I have a special request, will all my friends here google the Mickey Dolenz twitter page.

Last night, my 19 year old performed a solo vocal rendition of Porpoise Song by Goffin and King, from The Monkees Head movie and album.

My son's choir teacher accompanies him on piano.

A recording of it was sent to one of The Monkees chat groups and a Podcast Host sent the link to Mickey around five hours ago, it got posted on Mickey's twitter page, with over 500 views and 35+ comments, I submit this in part because there are comments how important it is to preserve and move this music along as culture, I appreciate the range my son sings and emulates the original version, it is nice to see him dressed in a tuxedo, and the piano accompaniment sounds like or retains a Debussy or Brahms element, listen for the way the teacher fades out in the end, very reminiscent of whale or porpoise song.

Thank you, for allowing me to enter this, wonderful to see the next generation take an interest, I cried during the whole first half of the song, of all the schools across the country performing their annual seasonal concerts, it is nice to know The Wrecking Crew played a hand at one of the events, the torch is passed.
