I don't know about 8 albums in the country album top 10, but here is an article that says Glen had 3 of the top 5 bestselling country albums in 1968!

Another amazing chart fact is that in 1968 16 albums topped the Billboard Country Albums chart. Out of those 16 albums that held the number 1 spot, 6 albums were Glen's!

They were:
By the Time I Get to Phoenix (4 weeks)
Hey Little One (1 week)
A New Place in the Sun (6 weeks)
Gentle on My Mind (2 weeks)
Bobbie Gentry & Glen Campbell (1 week)
Wichita Lineman (20 weeks, in 1968 that is)

So for about 8 months that year, Glen held the number 1 spot!

Nothing new in this I'll Be Me announcement; however, the linked review of Glen Campbell and Kenny Rogers concerts at Chastain Park Amphitheatre held on July 14, 2012 is interesting.
The photos are ones that I haven't seen before, and, when you click on each photo, the photo enlarges to a nice computer screen-size one. Just love the one of Glen and his guitar.

Thanks Mike! That's great. Very interesting to watch.
You know, the thing is, Glen isn't always the most reliable source when it comes to questions like "did he or did he not play on that record" or "how high did that record chart". And as far as I'm concerned, he doesn't have to be. He had such an amazing career, anybody would have a hard time keeping track of what he did.

For instance, when he says here that his live album, recorded at the Garden State Art Center in Holmsdale, New Jersey debuted at number 1 on the country charts AND the pop charts, that's not correct. Peak position on the country charts was number 2 and peak position on the pop charts was number 13. And 5 albums in the top 10 of the pop albums charts is not possible either since only 3 albums ever reached the top 10. That is also why, even if he told someone he was not on Country Gold (the Customtone album), I think there is still room for the possibility that he DID play on it. He might have forgotten, or might have other reasons to deny his involvement with that recording.

So, that is why I really would like to find out if his claim that he had 8 albums in the country albums top 10 at one time is true or not... It's difficult to verify though, but I will try!

Cowpoke, didn't Glen say that he had 8 of the top 10 albums on the country charts at one point in an interview with Ralf Emery I saw a few weeks ago. That sounds like a great feat also.
