Tim McGraw has already shown, he's gonna make America cry on Sunday night.

The country star rehearsed his deeply emotional version of Glen Campbell's nominated song, "I'm Not Gonna Miss You" on Friday night. At the end, there was not a dry eye in the Dolby Theatre.

These Are The Singers Set To Take The Stage At The Oscars On Sunday
From Forbes, February 20, 2015:
It would be great to see Campbell win this final award, and his chances aren’t looking terrible, considering he and co-writer Julian Raymond just won a Grammy for the song.

Music Connects Ailing Glen Campbell and Daughter Ashley
NEW YORK — Feb 20, 2015, 8:07 AM ET
By MESFIN FEKADU AP Music Writer

About the song, "Remembering", that Ashley wrote:
"I wanted to write about the relationship between me and my dad and how it's changed so drastically," she said. "About how your parents take care of you when you're little, but as they get older, it's your job to take care of them."

Thanks for the article from dnaindia.com, Cowpoke. There is a lot of talk about the Best Original Song category this year; competition is tough. Glen: give 'em your left hook again!

Also, I posted the brief interview with Ashley about what it would mean for her Dad to be recognized with another Grammy; this short clip is posted under the RESOURCES forum. I wasn't able to locate it online any longer.

This is a new article from the Wall Street Journal:

Oscars 2015: The Story Behind Glen Campbell’s ‘I’m Not Gonna Miss You’
By Mike Ayers, February 19, 2015

Most of the content is similar to other articles we have posted here, but I believe this information is new:
“I’ll Be Me” was shot for under $3 million, with just a small fraction of that dedicated to marketing the film.
This was surprising for me to read. This doc definitely does not look or sound like a low budget film.

Would love to hear that interview Dee.

Here is an article from a Indian news website:
Country music legend Campbell is battling with Alzheimer's and this is his last song ever. The song talks about how Campbell will feel once he loses his battle. From the documentary of his last tour, Campbell tells you how you will miss him, feel the pain of his loss, when he won't even know you.

This strong, sentimental song brought me to tears and will give "Glory" a tough fight.

BTW, most sites predict a win for "Glory" from the movie "Selma". I really hope Glen will win but in the end, bringing this movie to the attention of millions, is a victory in itself.

Thanks, Cowpoke.

You are so right....Elton John's quote in the LA Times article (posted below): tremendous!

That's two "Sir's" with sincere appreciation and admiration for Glen: Sir Paul McCartney and Sir Elton John are both big fans of Glen Campbell!

It is tragic that Glen isn't aware of all of the accolades he is receiving. One of the articles posted on the forums here quoted Kim about her hope that when they put Glen's latest (6th!) Grammy Award trophy in his hands it will give him a moment of happiness. I hope that it does and that he will understand that something special happened for him, because of him. I also recently found an interview (audio) with Ashley Campbell about how much this Grammy Award meant to the family--for Glen to have received this final recognition from his music industry peers. I need to find that interview so that I can share it here; I cried to hear her talk about her Dad's Grammy.

Wow Dee, that IS a wonderful article. LA Times has always been very supportive of Glen. And there is that quote from Elton John again. "One of the best songs ever written". Coming from Elton, that IS saying something. Such a pity that Glen cannot understand all these kind words anymore.

Wow...here's an outstanding article as we gear up for the 87th ANNUAL ACADEMY AWARDS and the announcement of the BEST ORIGINAL SONG!!!

This article is from the LA TImes: Oscars 2015: Glen Campbell song captures his life with Alzheimer's
Written by Randy Lewis, February 19, 2015

Following is a wonderful quote in this article about Glen Campbell by James Keach:
"Here's a guy, an iconic musician, who was faced with having to hang up his guitar, his career is over," Keach said. "But instead, he says, 'I ain't done yet. I'm going out to show what this disease is' because he wants to change the conversation. He writes the song with Julian, records it, sometimes a line at a time, sometimes a word at a time, and he wins a Grammy and gets nominated for an Oscar. If that ain't a hero, I don't know what is.

"So win or lose," Keach said of the Oscar ceremony, "he's won."
Glen Campbell Forums totally agree with Mr. Keach's statement: Glen Campbell is a hero. Glen has accomplished, actually exceeded, what he set out to achieve by being filmed for the documentary, "I'll Be Me", and recording one last song about Alzheimer's disease. The attention he has commanded for finding a cure for Alz's will be sent around the world on Sunday to an "audience estimated at 1 billion people."

For more information, see: http://www.latimes.com/entertainment/mo ... story.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

All the best from Glen's fans to GLEN CAMPBELL, JULIAN RAYMOND, and TIM MCGRAW who will perform "I'M NOT GONNA MISS YOU" at the Academy Awards on Sunday, February 22nd.
