Not really Glen related but I found this quote about rock & roll pioneer Eddie Daniels (who wrote "Little Lou" an early hit for Eddie Cochran) interesting.
Eddie Cochran’s affinity for [Eddie Daniels'] sound was as natural as it was inevitable. Unfortunately, both young musicians had made the same error — signing contracts with producer-manager Jerry Capehart, who routinely took a songwriting credit on his clients’ singles, including Cochran’s “Summertime Blues” and Glen Campbell’s first chart hit, “Turn Around, Look at Me,” with dubious levels of input. “I signed with Jerry Capehart as songwriter at American Music — he was a cheating dog, man,” Daniels says. “That’s when Eddie Cochran recorded ‘Little Lou.’

By the way, Eddie Daniels is still active in trying to get Jerry Capehart's name off the Daniels-penned "Little Lou".

Shhhhh.....I don't believe a friend of mine realizes (yet) the significance of a video he recently shared on YouTube with Glen Campbell fans....actually, it's the three-minute film within his posted video that is remarkable!

The short film is titled "FOR THE FIRST TIME, ALL OF 3,000 YEARS OF FINE ART IN 3 MINUTES" and is set to instrumental music known as "Classical Gas" written by Mason Williams. Most of us well know this great piece, thanks to Glen's performance of it over many years as well as Glen's doc, "I'll Be Me".

Glen introduces "3,000 YEARS" at the beginning of the YouTube video, "Summer Brothers Smothers Show". You can watch it here.

Fans, do you remember seeing or hearing about "3,000 YEARS" when it was first broadcast on this summer show that Glen Campbell hosted in 1968? This film had a major impact on viewers (who became "cultured" in just three minutes!) as well as the television and music industries that had never seen anything like it. Unfortunately, the television network that aired this video held (and may still hold) the film's copyright so it hasn't been shown widely for years although I seem to remember seeing it on YouTube briefly before it was removed and Vimeo, too, at one point; maybe it is still "out there"?

You can read about the history of this film as described by composer Mason Williams, how it was made, how it got on the Smothers Brothers summer replacement show, and more on a website dedicated to "Classical Gas": http://www.classicalgas.com/gasvideo.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;. Also, click around and check out the Photo Gallery that contains a few photos of Glen.

P.S. I am certain my friend is well aware of the rarity here...LOL) :)

Posted on behalf of Bill McAlister:
I wrote this song, OUR HEROES, after seeing the CNN Glen Campbell special. It made me think of other heroes who had health issues in their later years (Waylon, Cash, George Jones). Starts somber, then turns into a tribute, also to those we lost too soon in the air, from Glenn Miller to to Reba's band, etc.
Thank you for sharing your very timely song with us, Bill.

Dee, yes I certainly like that link that you put up about Glen singing on that Ralph Emery and the article commenting on ev1s enjoyment of watching Glen perform there. Ev1 being stars themselves , in my opinion being like Gary Chapman and Collin Raye in this great Breautube upload on YT getting to sing and play along with Glen on his classics. And Cowpoke, I think that will be a great show with Colin Raye and Debby Campbell . Wish I could be there and hoping someone uploads some video of that show. Here's that link Dee,,,, definitely worth reposting....

Glen Campbell tribute concert at the Fraze Pavillion (near Dayton) in Ohio on August 18, 2016.
Collin Raye is known for country standards like “Love, Me,” “In This Life,” “My Kind of Girl” and “I Can Still Feel You.” He will be performing with the Dayton Philharmonic Orchestra in a tribute to the music of Glen Campbell. Joining them on stage will be Campbell’s eldest daughter, Debby. The concert is the Fraze’s Celebrity Concert for Charity, and a portion of the proceeds will help people battling Alzheimer’s disease. Glen Campbell as well as Raye’s mother are receiving care in Alzheimer facilities.
