Arlw, thanks for that information!

You also mention "Glen Campbell Plays 12 String Guitar" on Buckboard records, which was the country music sublabel of Springboard records.

There is a little mystery attached to that album, at least to me. The album contains a selection of songs from The Swinging 12 String, released in 1963 by The In Group, featuring Glen Campbell and Leon Russell on harpsichord. I always wondered when they released "Glen Campbell Plays 12 String Guitar", but, as you say, there is no release year mentioned on that album. However, not so long ago I found an article in Billboard Magazine from 1974, which mentions Glen sueing Springboard records for releasing that album, claiming he is not on that record (but... he is). So, the album is from 1974.

But there is still something I would like to know. The same album, same tracks, with the same front cover, was also released on another Springboard records sublabel, which was called Onacrest records. To me, it doesn't make sense to release the exact same record on two different labels at the exact same time, so.... when did they release that Onacrest album. Before 1974 or after it?

These Springboard albums were sold mainly in the 70s in grocery stores, which used to have their own little record department. The albums were cheap, often did not have high audio quality and usually consisted of obscure recordings by big name artists, made before they became famous.

I have one reel to reel as you posted but it's hiding in the bookcase!

Glen Campbell Plays 12 String Guitar – This is not a cassette, but a rare 8-track tape album on the Buckboard label. 8T-BBS-1010. This is the same number as the LP release. Buckboard is a product of Springboard International Records. This is a very rare item 8 track only because it comes in a picture sleeve case, just like the album does. The casing is all black and has a white label on it with black writing. Very unique. No date is given on this tape.

String Special / Amor A Todos - The Folkswingers are on side A, Glen does "12 String", side B, which was written by him. World Pacific records. Promo, white label, not for sale, # 396B. No date given

The Folkswingers – EP WORLD PACIFIC # ST-4-1812. “12 String Guitar!” This is a MINI stereo Juke Box EP that was issued in 1963. This record features Glen Campbell. This is a one sided picture sleeve with Glen playing the guitar on the front. The back is blank and white in color. Says on the front, “World Pacific Stereo Little LP ST -4-1812 (ST-1812 / WP-1812). The EP contains 6 tracks. There are 3 on each side. The center piece is built into the record so it is ready to play at 33 1/3 RPM! In the center of that hole, it is white in color and says, “Stereo-Little LP”! 12-String Guitar-The Folkswingers. (SE-187) / (SE-188), along with ST-4-1812. World Pacific Records-A Product and Division of Liberty Records. One of the tracks on here is “Midnight Special.” That song was arranged and written by Glen Campbell. Overall, from 1963, this record is in great shape! Comes in the original Liberty Sleeve that houses the 45-EP. Great cover art as it’s the same as the LP’s that were released. This EP is a very rare record and they are scarcely seen! Being from 1963, this EP is 44 years old and Glen Campbell was only 26 when this was recorded. I don’t know how many of these were released, but these EP’s are quite rare.

Cowpoke-have this 45-

Glen Campbell – Subterranean Homesick Blues/All I Really Want To Do – World Pacific Records-white label. #77803. (WP-436/437). This 45 came out in September 1965. This is an AUDITION RECORD, and says that on the white label on both sides. Glen did a lot of recording before he found fame/fortune under his own name This is one of those odd little solo singles from the wilderness years. Working for World Pacific Records he did a pair of albums as Mr. 12 String Guitar where he played all the hits of the day-instrumentally. The albums turn up occasionally, but I’ve never seen this audition single taken from them. This pairs the Bob Dylan songs, and Glen does get the credit for arranging both of the sessions. The condition of the record is near mint. Being that this is an audition 45, this record is worth a lot of money, as they came out with audition 45’s and promotional 45’s!

Glen played on a variety of instrumental group albums in the mid-60s. In some cases, Glen was mentioned by name on the back sleeve. I especially like Glen's recordings he did as The Folkswingers on the World Pacific label. Here's a very interesting blog on this label. This label also released prerecorded 4 track tapes and apparantly the first Folkswingers album was also released on tape (in 1963).

Glen also recorded under the name Mr. 12 String Guitar. Not only an album but also 45 rpm singles were released under this name:

Arlw, do you have any of these tapes or singles?

Cowpoke-...this is the 45 you posted. From my collection:

CHANCELLOR WHITE LABEL - JOEY COOPER – This is a very rare 45 record that was produced by Jimmy Bowen and arranged and conducted by Gene Page. This was released in June of 1962. Chancellor Full Fidelity - C-1103. This Heart Of Mine 2:10 (by Eddie Miller & Bob Morris)/ I'm A Fool 2:20 (by Wes Bryan & Glen Campbell)! Both of these songs are Jimmy Bowen Productions.

This record is 42 years old and Glen Campbell was only 25 when this record was recorded. Glen played studio guitar work on the song that he co-wrote and he also he did back-up vocals on this track and plays a guitar solo in the middle of the song.

This is considered an extremely rare find! It is listed as “Rock”, but Joey Cooper sounds a lot like Rick Nelson and Glen Campbell really does a great job blending in with him on the song “I’m A Fool.” After all, Glen co-wrote that song with “Wes Bryan.”! American Music Incorporated.-BMI. Chancellor Records is located in the U.S.A.

This song, “I’m A Fool” by Wes Bryan and Glen Campbell is a terrific sounding song with a great beat. In listening to this song and voice, Joey Cooper could be a dead ringer for Rick Nelson! I believe this is the ONLY recorded record that Glen Campbell did with Joey Cooper. A very young Glen!

I have this record and never came across Volume 2 until last week when I located it on ebay! Took over 35 years but now have them both-the Vol. 2 hasn't been received yet, but I am so glad to cross it off my needed list!

"An Anthology Of Folk Music - SQN-102", Sine Qua Non Records. Glen does "Get The Bird Flyin", no date given. This is a 5 record set. Pete Seeger, Odetta Alan Lomax, Mrs Etta Baker, Ed McCurdy, David Hammond,Italian Brass Band, lead Belly, Woody Guthrie, Josh White, Lightin'
Hopkins, Clancy Bros, Tommy Makem, Brownie and Sonny, Glen Yarbrough,John Lee Hooker, Negro Prison Songs from the Mississippi State
Penitentiary. I bought this over 30 years ago and paid way over 35.00 for it. My guess is, this set is from the mid 60's! This is the one I have-below is the one I am waiting for.

"ýAn Anthology Of Folk Music Volume II" 4LP Record Album Vinyl SQN 126/4 --This is a 4-LP Record Album Set. This one says "Limited Edition" Not sure what Glen Campbell does because it doesn't show the back. The cover art of this record set is identical to the other one. What's interesting is this says "Limited Edition" and the 5 record set does not! Some artists are repeated but Judy Collins is on here, Pete Seeger, The Dillards, Hoyt Axton, The LimeLiters, Eric Weissberg, Will Holt, Mason Williams and many more. When received will post what Glen Campbell does. So glad to finally have BOTH-took years of hard work but it paid off!

Some typo is in here--I can live with it, if you can!
