It's a difficult one Stephen, as you know, there are younger people who love Johnny Cash singing Hurt, who probably never even listened to his earlier records in his hey day.You might say it is of a similar style. Perhaps they are listening with a fresh ear which is not deeply embedded with the original sounds we know and love. And lets face it tastes for music are different with each generation. Perhaps we are too set in our ways to give a fair judgement. Of course as in many things beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
As far as rating the last three albums purely from the pointof view of enjoyment I would score them as follows.
MGC 10
GOTC 8
SYT 7

Well all metacritic does, is make an average score based on professional reviews, so i don't see how this score discredits metacritic.

My score would be
MGC 8.5
GOTC 9
SYT 8

The fact that 'see you there' was rated equally and with Ghosts on the Canvas and beat MGC to my mind is astonishing and totally discredits the value of 'Metacritic'. I can only assume that the critics were not hard core Glen fans ,who liked SYT because they were familure with the songs. Also-like they do on X-Factor or American Idol, I think 'see you there' was lifted and carried on a great sentiment of sumpathy for Glen's real and difficult struggle.

Form a vocal and musical production,See you there was far behind the excellent production of MGC and GOTC.

Perhaps we can have our own score verdict

Mine is

MGC 10
GOTC 8
SYT 6

At the end perhaps we could add all the scores up and have our own forum critic

If I am to be brutally honest, I would be happy to play GOTC and MGC to introduce Glen Campbell to lesser or potential fans, but I would worry 'see you there' without the life long sentiment, might drive them off

Looking back at the reviews for See You There, the album got a very respectable 7.4 on metacritic.com, a website that combines reviews into a metascore.

BTW, Ghost on the Canvas also got an 7.4, Meet Glen Campbell a 7.0

Yes, "What I Wouldn't Give" is included on the US CD, but that's a new version, with a different instrumentation. The UK version has both: the new version and the "Ghost on the Canvas" version.

It's basically the same with "Wish You Were Here". The US CD has that song too (only it's titled "Postcard from Paris") but again it's a new version. The UK CD has both: the new version and the "Ghost on the Canvas" version.

The digital download/MP3 version of "Ghost on the Canvas" had two bonus tracks: "Wish You Were Here" and "What I Wouldn't Give". The exact same tracks have been added as bonus tracks to the UK CD of "See You There". It's the first time they have been released on CD, but many of us will already have them.

Wow, right cover but steep price. I also heard that the U.K. CD contains more songs.
