Re: I'll Be Me
Shelia, I am thrilled that you got to see I'll Be Me! You are one of the first fans to post here about seeing this documentary, and I loved reading your detailed review and reactions to certain scenes. Thank you so much!
You described it perfectly--you nailed it in terms of this doc being both tragic and funny, which can be hard to describe to others who haven't seen this film.
LOL...I appreciated your funny story about Glen's sisters' reaction to the "I Remember Hank Williams" album! Had they not seen it before you showed it to them?
Gerald shares Glen's sense of humor, doesn't he? Was his joke about being "Glen's biggest fan" in the doc?
Stage 7...it is terrible and it hurts to think about what Glen and his loved ones are dealing with.
If there is any saving grace here it is that Glen and his family are bringing much needed attention to finding a cure for Alzheimer's disease. This goal is one that Glen wanted to accomplish, and he makes this clear in the film, doesn't he?
I am surprised that your screening only had 8 people in the audience! Hopefully, the other theater was filled despite the lack of local publicity about the screening.
I'll post an article I found yesterday that describes the eligibility rules for directors who want to submit their documentaries to the Academy Award nomination committee.
134 docs will be competing for an Oscar in 2015. The eligibility requirements include offering a certain number of screenings, and these screenings also have to be held at certain times of the day. It's all very complex.
Anyway, your review -- a long-time fan's review -- is really appreciated here!
Thanks again!

Re: I'll Be Me
Hi Ya'll
Got to see I'll Be Me last night and it was wonderful. This film you can cry, laugh, and remember along with Glen. That corny joke he has
told for years I can still jump as high, just can't stay up as long. How many times have we heard that and he'snot forgotten it either. I thought
it was a very well done film and it was true to what I've heard of alz pts that they can get very agitated over the most minute things. Like
the problem with his tooth yelling at Kim to leave him along that he knows how to take care of it, then yelling at Ashley about the same
thing. Then there he is loving on Kim and telling her how much he loves her and the comment she made about his medicine acting like
Viagra just cracked me up and on top of that this is a 78 year old man we're talking about. I guess some things we just never loose!
I wish they would have had more footage of his family reunion in AR I've always just loved his family especially his brother Gerald. I got to
meet his sisters, the ones shown in the film, once in Branson in the early 90's at the Roy Clark theatre. They are nice ladies and just had a
fit when they saw the album I had Glen sign the one where its all Hank Williams songs and has pictures of the early years they just kept
going on about the pictures. This alz disease is a horrible disease and to think that if it hasn't already happened the stage 7 is awful. But
with the care of the facility he's in and the love of his family maybe it will be bearable. I hope so. The only bad thing about last night there
were only 8 of us in the theatre. There were 2 showings at the same time so how many could have been in the 2ns I don't know. The theatre did absolutly no publicity on this at all, the alz office here did nothing and I couldn't do any thing myself so it was a bust for sure
but I did get to see it and now I want it in DVD by Christmas. All I want for Christmas is the DVD!!!!!
Take Care

A report of a private screening of the film which took place Thursday night to a packed house at Phillips Hall at Mayo Clinic, where Campbell was first diagnosed with Alzheimer's in 2011.
