The guitar-playing, country-music-singing pop star had a string of huge hit songs, a network TV variety show and a movie part in True Grit with John Wayne. Now, he has Alzheimer's. The truth is, these days we remember a lot more about the "Rhinestone Cowboy" and the "Wichita Lineman" of Campbell's heyday than he does.

Holy cow. I just saw that video that Siblis posted, with Glen playing a solo on Try a Little Kindness.
It's so awesome! Thanks Siblis.

Yes, thank you for all of your posts, Siblis!
That one from blogcritic.org just about says it all about Glen, doesn't it? Terrific!

Cowpoke, in the version of the film that I saw at the Nashville premiere in April, Glen and his band perform "A Better Place".
We also saw him rehearsing for the Leno show--mostly talking to band members.
Glen was so proud and relieved after finishing this song, yelling out "I got through it!"

We also see Glen and Jay talking post-performance in the green room, Jay thanking Glen and telling him that he is welcome to come back anytime and "if that daughter (Ashley) wants to come back without you, that's fine!"

I wrote "version" above because in one of the interviews shared here, I believe Cal mentioned that he has seen all the versions of I'll Be Me. Now, I am really curious to see the final version

If any members here saw the film this past opening weekend, perhaps you can share here whether the Jay Leno performance is still in the film--and especially what you thought of the film. Do you agree with the reviews that are coming in from critics?

Love reading all those reviews. Thanks Siblis!
To come back to Glen and Jay Leno. Glen appeared on the Tonight Show in 2008 as well, performing Times Likes These. There are several other forums which have posts about this, like for instance...

I think Glen by then had already forgotten about Jay making some jokes about him in 2003.

BTW, here are Glen's performances on the Tonight Show in 2011 where he did It's Your Amazing Grace and A Better Place...

Part of these performances are featured in the documentary, right Dee?

Summary : If you are a celebrity, should you go public that you have Alzheimer's or quietly retire from the spotlight and cope with the coming darkness and silence? Glen Campbell in keeping with his maverick and legendary career took on another momentous career bending move. He was the first celebrity to publicly reveal his Alzheimer's diagnosis. What he and his family decided to do next is nothing short of extraordinary. Their decision and their actions in the subsequent months to maintain their joy and richness of life is captured in James Keach's amazing and award winning documentary of Glen Campbell. You will walk away uplifted from this authentic portrait of a family bonded together through a time of crisis. As for Glenn Campbell, the truism may remain that that one's waning years may actually hold more power and wonder than one's youth.
