Hi Ron,

nice to see you posting. Yes I think the documentary will definitely be very emotional. However, if it also educates people about this disease, they managed to make something good out of something terrible.

Glen started out wanting to play Jazz, Django Reinhardt was his idol back in the day until he realized there was no money it.

I guess many before Glen mixed country with pop. Jim Reeves, Patsy Cline, Eddy Arnold. However, that was the pop music your parents listened to. When Glen mixed them, the result was able to compete with the best of sixties pop and rock music. That is what makes him a pioneer I think.

Glen has always said "I'm a country boy who sings".
I thought it was interesting on the Melody ranch DVD they talk to Glen about his new sound and Glen states its moving country music up a couple of notches. Meaning its a more sophisticated than what has been recorded previously. His smooth sound was likened to Jim Reeves who also had a very warm tone to his records.

Well, Debby is right, Glen was never really a Nashville artist. Up until 1983/84 he always recorded in Los Angeles. And when Capitol Nashville dropped him from the label after 1993, he sang "Nashville eat your heart out, he don't need you anymore!". I actually thought that director James Keach was pushing it a bit when he called Glen "a hometown boy now". Sadly, Glen probably doesn't even know he lives in Nashville now.
