Dee,
From You----Would you have a listing of these artists' songs that Glen played on?

I would have to search over 15 files to locate that material!! The MOVE OVER DARLING release--Glen DID play on that!! My DJ here in the Dallas area confirmed that for me. Will check to see if I have the 45/CD.. The dates that YOU listed and even 1958-65 were ALL SESSION recordings for Glen! I used your post so I could answer it...Will search for the Doris Day for you but the other material is a NIGHTMARE!!! That is a 50 year span!!!!!!!!! Maybe when I have time-I could put together a file for you. You are welcome for the info.

Doris Day's fan sites had shared with me that Glen played backup for Doris in late 1962, 1963, 1964, and 1965. One of the DD songs that Glen supposedly played on is "Move Over Darling".

Great information, arlw! Thank you for responding to our call for help.

Would you have a listing of these artists' songs that Glen played on?

For example, the admin of one of Doris Day's fan sites had shared with me that Glen played backup for Doris in late 1962, 1963, 1964, and 1965. One of the DD songs that Glen supposedly played on is "Move Over Darling". This song and others that GC might have played on are included on a CD titled "Doris Day The 1960s Singles". I believe Move Over Darling was well-known at the time, not sure of the other songs. None of this information has been confirmed yet by researching the related session contracts.

Thanks,
Dee

It might be listed under Studio Session work! Glen recorded with Thousands of people/groups before going on his own! If you can't locate it on the archives, I will put up the list that I HAVE......Looking 50 years and still haven't found them all!!! Welcome to the forum Mike! The lists below are correct but there are plenty more!!!

Thanks everyone for your research. Mike's question is a good challenge for the forums because of the "best-known" / charting aspect which we have not looked at yet.
I don't think Glen was on The Champs' “Tequila” version on the Challenge label (1016) in 1958 because he had not yet been signed on as a session musician (is this correct?), he wasn't part of The Champs' studio group, and he wasn't touring yet with The Champs.

Looking forward to arlw's input, too.

Hi Mike,
great question and welcome to the forum. Ever since there was a Glen Campbell forum (since 1997) Glen's sessions days have been a beloved discussion topic here. In fact when I first joined in 2007, the posts by Arlw and Windbag KOA about this subject were some of the ones that really grabbed my attention.

Your question is a wonderful challenge because it requires both session information and chart information. Let's see if we can come up with a list of Top 10 hits on which Glen played. Here are the first 10 that I can come up with:

Rick Nelson - Young World (No. 5 in 1962)
Rick Nelson - It's Up to You (No. 6 in 1962)
The Cascades - Rhythm of the Rain (No 3. in 1963)
April Stevens & Nino Tempo - Deep Purple (No. 1 in 1963)
Shelley Fabares - Johnny Angel (No. 1 in 1962)
Frank Sinatra - Strangers in the Night (No. 1 in 1966)
Righteous Brothers - You've Lost That Lovin' Feeling (No 1. in 1964)
Bobby Darin - You're the Reason I'm Living (No. 3 in 1963)
Chris Montez - Let's Dance (No. 4 in 1962)
Jan & Dean - Surf City (No 1. in 1963)

Is that what you had in mind? There is much more. Arlw, please jump in!

Hi, Mike!
Welcome to the forums, and thanks so much for your great question!
So glad you got to see I'll Be Me and that you are giving it the thumbs up!

Regarding your question about the best-known sessions that Glen Campbell played on, you can find a list of the artists whom Glen worked with in the "Glen's Studio Sessions" topic here, under this same forum, All Things Glen.

Here is a direct link to this topic: http://www.glencampbellforums.com/viewt ... ?f=10&t=28" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;. You'll want to make sure you change the display of your posts from Ascending to Descending because the sessions post written by arlw is located at the top of the "Glen's Studio Sessions" topic.

Instructions for changing post display are as follows:

Log in to the forum
Click on the User Control Panel in the upperleft corner
Click on Overview and choose Board Preferences
Click on Edit Global Settings and choose Edit Display Options
Go to Display post order direction and choose "Descending"
Click on the Submit button

After you make this change, then every time you log into the forums, the most recent posts appear at the top of your screen.
Another tip: some topics are pages and pages long, 10 posts per page. Page numbers are located in the upper right hand corner and the lower right hand corner of each page.

Good question about the 20-25 best-known sessions of Glen.

Would anyone like to take a shot at this answer for Mike Smith?

By the way, there are two versions of "My World Fell Down" -- the single's version and the album's version! Please let us know if you need more information about these two versions, both with Glen.

Thanks again for joining and starting an interesting discussion!

Dee

Glen Campbell Sessions

Post by Mike Smith »

Hello All! I just joined the Forum after seeing, "I'll Be Me" today. What a wonderful film!
I do have a question, maybe someone can help? I'd love a list of the 20 or 25 best-knows sessions of Glen Campbell. I know he appeared on sessions by the Beach Boys, Byrds, Sinatra, etc...but a list of the exact hit songs by as many artists as possible would be very interesting. Can anyone help? I just found out Glen Campbell sang lead vocal on the Saggatarius song, "My World Fell Down" I am sure there are DOZENS of huge hits with Mr. Campbell playing guitar, and I probably have many of them in my CD collection. All I want to know is..which specific bands/songs/ artists? I want o make up a playlist for myself..can anyone help?
