randy moore,
You are welcome for the incredible list. I think I will let somebody else put it in ABC order as that's a lot of work! This is how I had it stored on MY computer!
I didn't have that Green River Boys in here as that's Glen Campbell's LP! These are session people that he played/recorded with...Mostly guitar but some harmony parts as well with these folks!

Arlw,,, would love to see your list in alphabetical order so it would be easy to find someone. Someone with word or office could do that easily or maybe you have it on your computer. Anyways many thanks for an incredible list. I may have missed it , but didn't see Green River Boys.
Also in 1962, he played guitar and sang on "Kentucky Means Paradise," a single by the one-off group the Green River Boys, who released an album, Big Bluegrass Special. "Kentucky Means Paradise" became a hit on the country charts, climbing to number 20.

Roberthd,
I believe you are correct about Elvis and this topic came up many times over the years!
The only thing I actually found was the "Viva Las Vegas" with Glen Campbell on guitar. There are other records/CD's out there with Elvis on them and GLEN but they are various artists, so they really don't fall into the studio session area. Couldn't fine any solo stuff other than "Viva Las Vegas." They also combined that Viva onto a two for CD but Glen is only on that one Movie Track. Here is the CD:
ELVIS DOUBLE FEATURES – VIVA LAS VEGAS and ROUSTABOUT. BMG Music/RCA. 1993 BMG MUSIC, Manufactured and distributed by BMG Music in New York. # 66129-2/RCA-07863. This CD is 2 complete soundtracks on 1 CD digitally re-mastered from the original RCA Records label two and/or three track masters. The CD includes a sessionography and a historical movie data. SND-2. Glen Campbell is acknowledged on Viva Las Vegas Soundtrack as a studio guitarist. He is mentioned also in the booklet that comes with this CD. He is not on the soundtrack Roustabout.

The wrecking crew were all over everyone's recordings back in the session days and of what I heard/read, they didn't want their names on the recordings, they just wanted to back up the groups, either by singing/playing guitar. So, some of the people that bought the records/tapes/reels, had no idea that Glen and others were even on there. Will post the list again for you so you can see who GLEN worked with and it's about 5-6 years ago that I put it together....

From what I understand, this wrecking crew group played on many big hits in the 60'70's. On a program I watched, it said they were not on the credits as the record labels did not want fans to know the other stars did not play all their own instruments. I don't know why Glen was not credited on 'stangers in the night' I dont ever remember Sinatra pretending he could play guitar.
As is well documented,Glen started out as a session guitarist and probably played on far more than we know. I read he played on the Monkeys. It is a long time since I read Glen's biography from 1994,but I imagine there is more information in there, though to make it a best seller the drugs and the booze seem to be most spoken about.
Simon and Garfunkel had such an individual and unique sound, and from a musical perspective it is a great credit to be part of their sound. From a commercial point of view,Elvis remains the name everyone knows,so I imagine in very short adverts or interviews, that is why Elvis is always highlighted. Although from a commercial point of view I understand why names might not have reached the credits on the record sleeve. However in terms of royalties, the names of secret instumentalists must be on a private list, unless their managers advised them badly.
Seems an odd turn that Glen played on so many other peoples records, but so many others did the background music for Glens later albums.

OK, time to stir the pot a bit.
Of all Glen's bio stuff re his studio work in the 60s, and all his comments re what songs he played on, I have often wished for the following: Downplay Elvis a tad, play up Simon & Garfunkel more.
Glen did not play on a lot of Elvis stuff, though much bio suggests it. He only played on the Viva Las Vegas soundtrack. Bios and Glen's comments sometimes suggest a whole lot more.
On the flip side, where Glen does not give himself enough credit is with Simon and Garfunkel. Producer Bob Johnston's site lists Glen as guitarist on the landmark Sounds of Silence LP. Additionally, two other major S&G albums list Joe South for guitar on S&G albums, but Wikipedia says "citation needed." It could have been Glen. Joe South did a lot of studio work, but these S&Gs are uncertain and may be a mixup with Glen.
Regardless, working with S&G is huge, and deserves as much mention as working with Elvis. Elvis was a bigger star, but the influence of S&G adds major props to Glen's rock career.
Then again, there's always the work Glen did with Keely Smith.

For any of you who have the Sioux Falls concert on DVD, in the "extras", Behind The Scenes w/GC, he specifically talks about his work with the Irish Rovers.

Cowpoke,
Here's the 45 I own from my collection. Very interesting and yes, Glen did play with the Irish Rovers!
The Unicorn / Whiskey On A Sunday - The Irish Rovers, January 22, 1968. MCA-65010. This is a reissue, as the original was released on Decca Records, # 32254. Glen stood in and did studio guitar work for this group.
