I was in row N Cowpoke. Seat 11. It was actually a good seat, as I was fairly central to the stage and I could see well enough. We really need to communicate better, next time you come over for a concert we will chat beforehand and definitely meet up. I am glad you got to see Jimmy. Is your wife a big fan also?

Well Mike I don't know if talking to me is like opening a present :) but thanks for the nice words. I really hoped I would see you. I looked around in the concert before the lights went down because somehow I have a vague picture in my mind how you look (I don't know how I got it, did you ever posted a picture of you and Glen perhaps?). I was on the fourth row with my wife. Where were you seated? Don't tell me you sat next to me! :D

Thanks for posting that review Dee, I noticed there is also an interview at the bottom of the page in which Jimmy talks a bout his relationship with Glen and his music in general.
Ha, I am glad I was totally positive about Jimmy in my comments.

Oh Cowpoke, That is a shame. I never thought to check with other fans and what their plans were. If you attend a concert in the future we must meet up. It would be an honour and a privilege to chat with you Cowpoke. Perhaps it was just as well, It would have been like opening all the presents at the same time. At least I have that to look forward to in the future. Still it would have been nice old friend.

Waiting on your review, Cowpoke!

Mike, your two reviews/posts were shared by Erik today with Jimmy Webb, some of his family members, friends and some fans. Erik had seen your posts here on Glen Campbell Forums.

Here's another great review by a journalist/fan who is "singing in the wires" about a recent Jimmy Webb/Glen Campbell Years/Still On The Line concert in the U.K. Nice video selections accompany it. Glen would be so proud of how Jimmy Webb is continuing their legacy in music.

Thanks so much for your great posts about attending the Jimmy Webb "Still On The Line" Glen Campbell Tribute Concert at Cadogan Hall in London, Mike.
I really appreciate the set list you provided. It seems that Jimmy has tweaked his set list a tad since June 2015.
You summed up this special tribute concert beautifully:
To me, as a big Glen Campbell fan, this is the last link to those wonderful times of seeing Glen perform these songs live over the years, and to have Jimmy do that, and recognize Glen's contribution to his music was something which went beyond enjoyable and entertaining, it was a kind of pilgrimage to witness a legend share his love for another legend and dear friend.
So glad you attended the concert AND met the infamous Erik the Dane in person!
Dee

Forgot to mention, That seems to be my new catch phrase (Or perhaps Columbo's)
I met Erik the Dane at the concert, and Mike Howard from the Jimmy Webb forum. That really was a highlight for me. Erik was spotted by Jimmy during the concert and Jimmy told him to stand up and take a bow to a big cheer from us who knew him and a round of applause from those who didn't. Jimmy explained that Erik is his Archivist. I thought I was travelling far from Birmingham, but Erik had come over from Denmark.

Jimmy at Cadogan Hall, London.
I just wanted to share details of Jimmy's show at Cadogan Hall, London.
I took a bus down to London and spent the afternoon looking at some of the sits. Buckingham Palace and so on. I then made my way to the concert hall and arrived in time to catch Ren, the opening act who supported Jimmy last year when he came over, did the same again this time. This is a duo, singer songwriters who did an acoustic set for about 45 minutes. They did some really nice tracks, but nothing I had heard before. After a 10 minute break Jimmy comes on and goes straight into Galveston. This time the show had a large screen which was used to show scenes of Galveston beach etc which really caught the mood of Jimmy's singing and playing. The play list was as follows,

Galveston, as mentioned

Amazing Grace
Jimmy played this to show how his playing had progressed from playing at the Baptist church and playing the standard arrangement to going into a full blow, almost orchestral arrangement with every chord ever been invented being used

Honey Come Back
Jimmy talked about how Glen, hated doing this live because he didn't like doing talky type songs. As jimmy played it the words appeared on the screen and when it came to the chorus he got everyone to join in.

Poor Side of Town
This was played by Jimmy to introduce the story of how Johnny Rivers recorded Phoenix

By The Time I Get To Phoenix
When this was played by Jimmy it was done to the duet he did with Glen on the "Just across the river" album and each sang a portion of the song. Glen was shown doing his vocals on the screen of course.

Up Up And Away
Jimmy talked about how his Father went to the radio station with his bible and a .45 pistol when they banned the single on the Oakllahoma radio station and encouraged them to change their policy.

Wichita Lineman
Jimmy did a lovely arrangement of this and again shots of telegraph poles were used, as were images of Glen and his album cover. Jimmy mentioned that Elvis would play Glen's album over and over, and stated that Glen was his favorite singer.
The Moon Is A Harsh Mistress
Jimmy talked about Glen's influence in getting this song heard by other artists who also recorded it, such as Judy Collin's etc. This was performed with shots of the moon sent to him from fans.
Highwayman
Again Jimmy talked about how Glen encouraged the "Highway men" to cover this song and the impact it had on the record.

Postcard From Paris
I especially loved this song. Jimmy said he wished they had got together and recored the song, because he felt it would have been a big song for them. I agree totally. ( Glen made me cry, when he sang it in Birmingham on the goodbye tour)

MacArthur Park
Again this was done as a duet with glen taking the instrumental section. Footage from the Glen Campbell music show was used with Jimmy on the piano on the footage also. At the end of that performance Jimmy got a standing ovation

Time Flies
Jimmy said Glen loved this song and would sing it to Ashley when she was very young. This was accompanied by images of Glen and Jimmy together and when he had finished playing he threw a kiss towards to the screen to Glen.
Again he got a standing ovation.

It was a two hour show which could not have been better received. Jimmy was visibly moved by the audience reaction and the ovations and I felt it overwhelmed him a lot.

I had been undecided whether to go or not, but felt it was an experience I would regret missing. I am now so glad I made the journey.

Another good interview with Jimmy Webb, but very heartbreaking to read how extensively Glen is affected by Alzheimer's disease now.
Great choice of videos along with this interview. Glen Campbell Forums is honored that one of our official channel's videos, "Glen Campbell - Turn Around Look at Me (1977)", is featured in this article.
